![]() Not even death, however, could quell Medusa’s power, and Perseus had to keep her decapitated head in a special sack strong enough to contain it, called a kybisis. The two immortal sisters pursued Perseus with fury, but the hero escaped with his prize using Hermes’ winged boots and Hades’ helmet of invisibility. Such a violent act resulted in the birth of Medusa’s children, the winged horse Pegasos and the giant Chrysaor, who sprung from her neck. ![]() While the Gorgons slept, the hero attacked, using Athena’s polished shield to view the reflection of Medusa’s awful face and avoid her petrifying gaze while he beheaded her with a harpe, an adamantine sword. Perseus set out with the aid of the gods, who provided him with divine tools. A dishonorable king demanded that he bring him an impossible gift: the head of Medusa. The best known myth recounts her fateful encounter with the Greek hero Perseus. A close look at her role in Greek mythology and art reveals a nuanced and complex character with multiple iterations and implications. She represents a dangerous threat meant to deter other dangerous threats, an image of evil to repel evil. The most common interpretation of Medusa suggests she is an apotropaic symbol used to protect from and ward off the negative, much like the modern evil eye. Made from a single piece of Pure Titanium, cut into the iconic Decadent Minimalist shape to positively retain even a single identification or credit card. That gives us a final score of 37 out of 50.Our DM1 design has been improved with the 2020 Model. All external edges are now rounded for comfort and the long edges are scalloped for an appealing hourglass shape. For quality a 5, price a 2, and usability a 4 and perception a 4. It is excellent and something well worth adding to your collection if you are interested in this kind of a wallet. I am excited to see what additional products they may come out with in the future beyond just the design for this which they have been sitting on and selling for a few years. Like most companies these days, they got their start on Kickstarter and over the course of two campaigns, they crushed it on Kickstarter. The measurements of this wallet is 3.5 x 2.3 x 0.5 and weighs 26 grams. So unless you laminate your cards, of which they provide a kit to do that, you have no method of really being able to put other things in here like discount cards or other non credit card sized items. One potential issue is that it can’t handle non rigid cards. You find the card that you want and easily remove it and replace it with ease. If you want to gain access to cards, you just remove them. It is easy to put cards in and pull them out. If you want to carry cash, it will require the money clip piece which is almost two thirds the price of the main wallet.Īs for usability, from a simplicity perspective, this is easy. They have a four, five, eight, and twelve card version of the wallet in aluminum, nickel, and titanium which are all great materials. The Decadent Minimalist is designed in the United States and made in Seattle. But as a card holder primarily, it makes you wonder if we still need cash? From a minimalist carry perspective, even though this is made for twelve cards, you could get away with four to eight cards reasonably well, especially if you have other options and features like the money clip or a coin tray. I would say you could get maybe six to eight embossed cards inside. If you had embossed cards, that would reduce the capacity just a bit. The twelve cards are flat with no embossing. With the card and cash insertion test, this is the twelve card version and as expected I was able to put twelve cards in there very easily. It acts like a card, but this is primarily a card wallet. There are also options available for cash slip cards. Although they do have a specific lanyard version of the wallet, if you wanted to carry it around your neck with an ID. To build for other architectures you can use the CMAKE_OSX_ARCHITECTURES and QMAKE_APPLE_DEVICE_ARCHS variables in your project files or on the command line. Architecturesīy default, Qt will build for the architecture of your development machine - either x86_64 if you're on an Intel Mac, or arm64 if you are on an Apple Silicon Mac. This technique allows Apple to ensure that binaries built long before the new SDK and operating system was released will still continue to run without regressions on new macOS releases.īuilding against an older SDK is a last-resort solution, and should only be applied if your application has no other ways of working around the problem. One caveat to using the latest Xcode version and SDK to build your application is that macOS's system frameworks will sometimes decide whether or not to enable behavior changes based on the SDK you built your application with.įor example, when dark-mode was introduced in macOS 10.14 Mojave, macOS would only treat applications built against the 10.14 SDK as supporting dark-mode, and would leave applications built against earlier SDKs with the default light mode look. Doing so will likely lead to crashes at runtime if the binary is then deployed to a macOS version lower than what Qt expected to run on.įor more information about SDK-based development on macOS, see Apple's developer documentation. Note: You should not lower the deployment target beyond the default value set by Qt. To raise the deployment target with CMake: You only need to raise the deployment target if your own code uses APIs that were added in a macOS version higher than what Qt defaults to, and you are not using checks to guard their use at runtime. Qt expresses the deployment target via the CMAKE_OSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET or QMAKE_MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET variables, which by default is set to the minimum supported deployment target for Qt. If the binary is launched on a macOS version below the deployment target macOS or Qt will give an error message and the application will not run. In theory this would allow running your application on every single macOS version released, but for practical (and technical) reasons there is a lower limit to this range, known as the deployment target of your application. When the binary is run on a macOS version lower than the SDK it was built with, Qt will check at runtime whether or not a platform feature is available before utilizing it. 14.sdk Target Platformsīuilding for macOS utilizes a technique called weak linking that allows you to build your application against the headers and libraries of the latest platform SDK, while still allowing your application to be deployed to macOS versions lower than the SDK version. app /Contents /Developer /Platforms /MacOSX. ![]() Why did you lose your money in last night’s poker game?
The book of Revelation itself identifies the seven. However, since the Bible does not give any details about the seven spirits of God, we cannot be dogmatic about them. They contend that this phrase refers to the sevenfold description of the Spirit of the Lord in Isaiah 11:2. Throughout the Bible, the number seven is symbolic of perfection, and saying that the Holy Spirit consists of seven spirits could be a way of representing that perfection. The book closes with a reference to the three persons: Jesus (22:16), the. The rhythm of practicing sabbath or resting every seventh day is one way that humans can imitate God and act like they are participating in the new creation. The most widely held and plausible view of the seven spirits of God is that they are representative of the Holy Spirit in some way. Grace and peace are gifts of God that find their origin in the members of the Godhead. Isaiah said: "And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord." Some scholars take this to possibly mean that the seven spirits of God are the Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of Wisdom, the Spirit of Understanding, the Spirit of Counsel, the Spirit of Might, the Spirit of Knowledge, and the Spirit of the Fear of the Lord. Another view takes a verse from Isaiah 11:2 and uses it to enumerate and name the seven spirits of God. He is spoken of as God and is identified with the title of Jehovah. One view is that the seven spirits are indeed angels of some kind. The Scriptures also attest to the deity of the Holy Spirit. John refers to them as a literal entity, similar to the angels or the cherubim. That is, they are more than simple metaphor. However, there is no indication that these seven spirits of God do not exist. ![]() ![]() These descriptions are mysterious and heavy with symbolic meaning, as is much of the Book of Revelation. These are the various passages in the Book. They are also said to be "sent out into all the earth" and they are equated with the "seven eyes" of the Lamb of God. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent into all the earth (Revelation 5:6 HCSB). The Holy Spirit manifests in humankind through these graces, reflecting the seven spirits of God. Revelation 1:4-5 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from Him which is, and which was, and which is to come and from The Seven Spiritswhich are before His throne. They are the ‘Seven Attributes’ of the Holy Spirit. We know from the references that mention the seven spirits that they are "held" by Jesus Christ, and that they are likened to seven lamps burning near, or in front of, God's throne. The Seven Spirits of God is the Holy Spirit. It is not possible to say with complete certainty what or who the Bible is referring to when it describes the "seven spirits of God" which are before God's throne (Revelation 1:4 3:1 4:5 5:6). Industrial demand is high, even though there are 500 unfilled “low-wealth” jobs (a euphemism that would make any politician proud). Weirdly, though, SimCity actually seems to encourage failure, making learning more difficult than it has to be.įor instance, the ratio of residential to commercial to industrial zoning has a very small sweet spot, which I like-it's a hard game to master-but SimCity's advisers almost always push me to solve problems by expanding rather than by achieving balance with what I have. There's almost always room to bulldoze half a city, pass a bond measure, and start over. Learning through failure is a frustration SimCity gets away with by allowing for failure. Sims sometimes do dumb things, or have unexpected complaints, and identifying and solving these behaviors takes time. Even after nearly 100 hours, I'm still discovering new quirks and features of the simulation. The only way to learn how to plan for and balance all this is trial and error. Getting a handle on such minutiae becomes overwhelming when I try to expand too fast. And because service vehicles like fire trucks have to actually drive to where they're needed, seemingly minor details like whether they're more likely to make right or left turns out of their garages really do matter. Bigger cities also need more water, more power, more sewage treatment, and more garbage trucks, as well as police, fire, and health coverage, public transportation, parks, and schools.īuildings can be upgraded, but even upgrades such as extra water pumps and fire truck garages need space. As houses become towers, too many intersections and not enough high-capacity avenues will cause traffic gridlocks, and density won't increase at all without enough space. Big decisions like this happen at every stage of a city's development, and my choices often influence how I feel about my city more than my city itself. The type of power plant I choose first will influence the whole narrative of my city, not because I can't switch at any time, but because I refuse to be an inconsistent mayor. Clean energy solutions-wind and solar plants-also pump power into the city, but require swaths of valuable land to keep the lights on. And many could not leave behind their worries about the personal, family, or workplace problems that awaited them in Vancouver at trip’s end. ![]() On the first night, one asked, with real apprehension, if they should worry about rattlesnakes or poison ivy. Many had grown up in urban Vancouver and they gawped in disbelief at the modest homes as we drove through Zeballos. There was still heavy kayaks to be carried above the high tide line, camp to be set up, meals to be coked, etc.Īs if that wasn’t enough, many of the students were nervous entering an environment they were acutely unfamiliar with. And once we reached camp, the work wasn’t done. Large groups move at a snail’s pace if individuals can stop at any time. There was simply no other way to reach our objective. Our paddling days were long and we moved efficiently on the water. In addition, this was a physically demanding trip. They had honed all the necessary skills on warm-up trips beforehand and all of them recognized the importance of safety at all times. Students had to learn how to use and care for all their equipment, how to tie up boats every night, and by the trip’s end, they were far more skilled and quick at loading kayaks on the trailer than I was. And this process had to be repeated every day. Each piece of gear, from spare paddles to satellite phone to spare clothing to sunglasses, had to be stored in a suitable location, and protected from the elements where necessary. We carried – and relied on – a vast array of specialized equipment, clothing, and food. This was a difficult trip -logistically, physically, and, for some, emotionally. That said, what I will remember was the dedication, expertise and consistency of the group leaders. And making a three kilometer crossing with three meter swells was as exciting as I could hope for. Granted, we travelled through some spectacularly beautiful country that sees an annual rainfall of about 4 meters – but we saw absolutely no rain on the entire paddling trip. To me, what was most valuable about this trip was the human element. My trip was generously approved and completely paid for by the Faculty Professional Development Committee at Red Deer College. All the adult leaders had more experience than me and the students had done several kayak trips beforehand. The team included four adult leaders – Nick, Ryan, Lucy, and me, as well as seven students. I’ve done some paddling, and was keen to do a serious ocean kayak trip, but since I’m a prairies boy, I was hesitant since I knew that I didn’t have the necessary experience. With a better idea of what they’re dealing with, Shikadai is able to come up with a plan to slow Garaga down–between Chocho growing giant, Aoda’s attacks, and his own shadow paralysis jutsu, it almost seems like they’ll finally be able to attain Garaga’s Reverse Scale without incident. After getting Aoda to agree to help them, the group try to attack again. Considering the massive, randomly placed stone statues at the start of the episode, it feels like we should have seen a snake possessing the ability to turn people into stone coming. Given a group of genin were able to sneak right up on the Hokage and every other important ninja in his staff without being noticed, the only surprising part to this plot twist is it didn’t happen sooner.ĥ. As the chuunin who’s been unconscious since the start of the arc begins to wake up, we learn the one protecting him, Yurito, is apparently working for whoever’s responsible for the attack on the village. Apparently being good at cracking other people’s security doesn’t necessarily mean you’re good at bolstering your own. Several episodes ago, I pointed out how absolutely garbage the security seems inside the Hokage building–so of course this episode reveals they’ve had a traitor in their midst all along. We’re several episodes deep and Mitsuki’s whereabouts and thoughts are just as much a mystery now as they were when things began.Ĥ. I don’t hate this arc, but it’s just incredible that we’ve got time to deal with Team Sumire and Team Denki, the groups who barely deal with anything more serious than finding missing pets and guarding vases, but no time to actually show the character this arc is actually about. This episode even gives us an entire scene devoted to the other genin in Team 7 and Team 10’s class to talk about their concern for Boruto, Sarada and the others. It’s had time to talk about how Naruto’s gotten in trouble with the village elders and has endangered his job for allowing Mitsuki in, especially now that he seems to have betrayed the village. It’s had time to talk about Boruto’s guilt over never having truly attempted to understand Mitsuki. Instead he encourages them to just…go home instead of continuing to endanger their lives.ģ. This bit of contrast is appreciated–up til now, the snakes have all been either monsters willing to eat children for wandering into their home, or duplicitous enough to send those same children to their doom against an even larger snake.Īoda’s the first decent one we’ve met–he’s so polite he can even deal with Boruto being a jerk while only taking minimal offense. Aoda mentions he only helped to save Sasuke’s daughter Sarada, then advises them not to keep attacking Garaga, even saying that most of the other snakes in Ryuchi Valley don’t like him either. ![]() In a neat bit of continuity, the group is saved from Garaga by Sasuke’s summon animal, another giant snake named Aoda, He’s pretty laid back and well-mannered, which is about the usual for people surrounding Sasuke even when they aren’t actually people, they’re still better people than he is. It’s not a Goblin Slayer-like situation where they’re “too dumb to live”, but their inability to close the deal makes for much better drama than a team of kid geniuses wrapping this up in a couple weeks.Ģ. With barely any experience in dealing with situations like this without the presence of multiple adults, they’re supposed to make a bunch of mistakes and overestimate their abilities. I wanted to joke about how the group didn’t seem to understand the meaning of the words “giant snake”, but their relative ineptitude is actually a bit endearing. Sarada nearly gets chomped on, until a different snake arrives and attacks Garaga, giving the group enough time to escape and regroup. They try to mount an offensive, but spend most of their time just trying to stay alive…and even that barely works. Despite being told Garaga’s a “giant snake”, they still manage to underestimate how big he is until they finally run into him–he’s so large they barely recognize they’re walking past him until it’s too late. And if you’ve got any comments or questions, please hit me up After dealing with the White Snake Sage and their assistants, the group gets to set out deeper into Ryuchi Cave to find Garaga, the giant snake that’s been causing the White Snake Sage trouble. But are they really ready to take on this massive threat? Also, is there a traitor in the wings at Konoha?
